Story

The story

When Victoria's family lost everything, Joey lived with her in a cramped, windowless Brooklyn basement. He worked three jobs a day for three years to help her rebuild her empire, and she promised him a real home. In the third year of their marriage, he finds the deed to their marital house — the owner is Tristan, her first love. She says the house is what she owes him.

Joey asks how she will repay what she owes him, then quietly texts his lawyer to draft a divorce agreement. Victoria insists Tristan is entirely in the past, yet she wants him to move into their house, and when Joey objects, she calls him petty and leaves to pick Tristan up.

At a family dinner, her father Richard warns her to stay away from Tristan and says the family acknowledges Joey alone as their son-in-law. Victoria arrives hostile, accusing Joey of complaining, while Richard reveals she made Tristan her personal assistant at headquarters.
