The story

As the wedding nears and gold prices climb, Ethan hands his fiancée Lily his entire savings of $28,000 for the jewelry set. On the eve of their engagement, she surprises him with a plain gold ring, claiming she bought it herself so he wouldn't have to spend. Moved, he takes it to the store to exchange it for a bracelet—only to learn it was a free gift, and that returning it means bringing back the $28,000 diamond ring.

Then he sees Jason's post flaunting that diamond ring. At a nightclub, Lily clings to Jason, calls Ethan her idiot boyfriend, and boasts of $4,500 sneakers bought for another man. When Ethan asks who the main wife is, she sneers that whoever wears the diamond ring is the main one. He ends the engagement and demands the $28,000 back.

Lily lets him walk away, certain he will crawl back within three days. At home, her card charges pile up, and Jason's posts keep showing her at his side—while Ethan wonders where the money is coming from.
