Story

The story

Everyone in the Jenco family knows that Evan Jenco, the future Don, shares a childhood promise with Nancy Sartori, sealed before the Holy Mother. But Evan suffers a strange ailment: every three years he forgets the woman he loves, and only her. Nancy endures humiliation and torture, yet forgives him again and again, believing him innocent.

At eighteen he breaks her legs for another woman, costing Nancy her dream of dancing, and locks her in a pitch-black basement while compromising photos spread through the city. At twenty-one, during their engagement, he uses her as a shield in a firefight and leaves her in critical condition. On their wedding day he arrives holding hands with another woman, and Nancy's father, Alan Sartori, collapses with a cerebral haemorrhage.

Then a message from an unfamiliar number offers Nancy the truth about Evan. At a club, she overhears him boast that the amnesia was never real, only a lie invented so he could enjoy other women.

Opening excerpt

That was until Evan started suffering from a strange ailment, where he would forget about the woman he loved every three years. Nancy endured humiliation and torture because of this, but she chose to forgive Evan again and again because he was innocent.

However, she later found out that the so-called amnesia he had was nothing but deceit. The man she loved was the mastermind behind everything.

Nancy accepted another man into her life on the day she found out the truth.
