The Price of His Devotion

Chrissy has spent seven years as the stunt double for director Zavier, the man she loves. On his set she takes the falls, the explosions and the freezing water while he saves his tenderness for his leading lady, Lexi Summers. When a thirty-foot drop leaves her bleeding and limping, no one on the crew even looks her way.

Wearing a headset, she hears Zavier's own verdict: she is tough, useful, kept on out of gratitude and obligation, while Lexi belongs in the spotlight. The words freeze something inside her. A doctor then warns that her ruined knee and shoulder will put her in a wheelchair within six months if she keeps performing stunts.

Chrissy reaches out to the captain of the Denali Mountain Wildlife Conservation Station and signs on for a three-year assignment deep in the wilderness, far from Zavier and the life she built around him.
