Story
The story
After three years running the Boston branch, Noah is praised by the Chairman at the New Year's HQ conference for doubling its profits. But when the Chairman jokes that Isabelle, his girlfriend of seven years, should finally transfer him home so they can marry, Isabelle instead hands the transfer order to Liam, insisting Noah is the bigger person and would not want her accused of favoritism. Noah nods, professionalism first, though the distance between them has never felt greater.
In the car, a blue charm on the seatbelt and Liam's snacks crowding out Noah's allergy pills in the glove compartment tell their own story. Noah has bought 157 round-trip tickets between Boston and New York, every one ending with Isabelle, yet she never takes him to the airport. When he files for marriage leave, the whole company assumes a wedding is coming, until the Chairman congratulates them in front of Isabelle, whose shock turns to rage.
