After I Died, My Father Didn't Recognize My Body

When a young woman is cruelly killed, her father is the forensic doctor who examines her body. He autopsies her remains without ever recognizing that the victim is his own daughter, Sofia Taylor, abducted eight years earlier along with her mother, Claire. He notes the beatings, the assaults, the miscarriages, and the fatal hemorrhage, then calmly returns to doting on Lillian, the adopted daughter he now calls his only child.

Grandma still begs him to find Sofia, but he refuses, insisting Claire ran off with another man and that mother and daughter are better off dead. From the stomach of the dead girl he extracts the last clue she swallowed before dying: a note wrapped in red plastic, bearing an address where her mother lies buried.
