Story

The story

Adrian Hebert was raised as the sole heir of a loveless merger marriage, educated to perfection though he shares no blood with either family. When Leo arrives with a DNA test and a MIT acceptance letter, demanding the life he claims is his, Adrian barely reacts. After all, Leo is only the latest in a long line of self-proclaimed true heirs to appear at the door.

Adrian calmly hands the report to the butler Peterson and offers Leo the south-facing guest suite. When Leo demands the master bedroom instead, Adrian simply agrees and moves to the study. At dinner, Richard Hebert and Eleanor ignore Leo's tearful tale entirely, leaving him stunned and the watching comment feed baffled.

Even Isabella Thorne finds the whole affair amusing when she calls to hear about the new arrival. In this household, a birthright claim is nothing special.

My parents’ marriage was never about love. It was a merger.
