Rotten maiden

Jasper has always been there for Imogen, his childhood sweetheart and neighbour: buying her sanitary pads, helping her choose colleges, polishing her resume and accompanying her to interviews. When he finally confesses, she appears arm in arm with Jude, a world-weary labourer from a construction site, and declares she has found true love. Jasper steps back into the role of friend.

After Jude beats Imogen into hospital with a ruptured abdomen, Jasper confronts him and calls the police. Imogen defends Jude, insisting she provoked him and that he is usually good to her, then blames Jasper for meddling and tells him to leave. The police let Jude off with a warning, and he mocks Jasper as a bootlicker.

Drinking with Milo, Jasper overhears Jude boasting to his friends about how he keeps Imogen devoted, and offering to sell them private videos of her. As Jasper raises a beer bottle to strike him, one of Jude's friends shoves him aside.
