For three years, Louisa kept every trace of Eugene Chapman off her social media, believing he was simply a private man who disliked being posted online. Their wedding invitations for next month carried only a scenic photo, and even her closest friend had to ask whether she truly had a boyfriend.

Then a pet influencer's video appears in her recommendations, and Eugene is in it, his arm around a girl named Charlotte Ellis, grinning at the camera. Going through the account post by post, Louisa finds him in all 1,095 days of it, filming alongside Charlotte, who the volunteers at the animal rescue center already treat as his girlfriend. Louisa cancels the wedding, resigns, and accepts a two-year film restoration residency at the Hillside Film Archive, all while Eugene still believes the wedding is going ahead as planned.
