Story

The story

Thea earns a living selling photos and voice notes to a long-term client, who uses them to pose as a woman dating Julian Henderson, heir to the Henderson fortune. When the client begs Thea to attend a public meetup in her place, a fifty-thousand-dollar deposit settles the matter, and curiosity about the imposter draws Thea to the downtown galleria early.

There she runs into the real Julian, her first love and the biggest mistake of her life. He calls her a charity case, mocks her cheap canvas tote, and refuses to let her leave, determined to see what kind of trash she has caught this time. Thea cannot afford to have her cover blown before the fake Julian even arrives.

Her client keeps messaging, asking if she has made it yet.

Opening excerpt

I was about to type out a polite "no thanks" when she sent the next message. It was a picture of my nemesis.

My face went blank. [Are you telling me you’ve been using my photos and videos to date him?]

[You've been scammed, girl,] I typed back, trying to be gentle.

[Impossible,] she shot back instantly. [He's sent me so much money. He has to be the real Julian Henderson, the heir to the Henderson fortune.]

I sighed.

I dragged the photo she sent of Julian into a Google search. It was a stock image, used and abused by dozens of gossip blogs.
