New Year's Eve My Boyfriend Tried to Kill Me

On New Year's Eve, a young woman notices a post claiming the televised gala broadcast is wrong. When she looks for herself, the performers never blink and the audience never moves. The people on screen turn to face the camera, smiling identical smiles, and the television will not switch off. She hides in her closet and reaches out to the original poster, who sees the same horror, while everyone else insists the broadcast is perfectly normal.

An orphan, she has only her best friend and her boyfriend, Simon Lambert, to turn to. She and Simon had fought about marriage days earlier, but she calls him in terror. He comes, yet finds the closet empty and accuses her of a cruel prank. Her own video and location prove she is there, leaving him shaken.

Then Simon recalls a story his grandfather, once an exorcist, told him: a Shadow Curse that latched onto a New Year's Eve broadcast decades ago, stiffening everyone on screen. Only she and the poster seem able to see it.
