Story
The story
After four years of shamelessly chasing Elias Vance, Daisy is sent overseas by her frightened family under his pressure. Drugs, hypnosis and electroshock therapy erase her love for him, leaving her memories of him blurry and her days foggy with sleep.
Back home, Daisy instinctively avoids Elias, warned by her mother that she cannot afford to cross him. When she sees him kiss her sister Seraphina, she snaps a photo and blurts that they look perfect together — and the usually emotionless man's gaze trembles violently.
At dinner, Daisy's terror of Elias erupts, and she hands him a metal box of old photos and trinkets found in her wardrobe. He denies it is his, then accuses her of acting, leaving Seraphina in tears.
Opening excerpt
I chased Elias Vance for four long years, utterly devoid of shame.
He was utterly exasperated by me.
Under his immense pressure, my family, cowering in fear, shipped me off overseas.
He said, "Whatever it takes, make her stop bothering me!"
"Otherwise, don't expect any mercy from me."
Drugs, hypnosis, electroshock therapy…
These methods were incredibly effective.
I forgot what it felt like to love him.
Even my memories of him became blurry, indistinct.
He finally relented, allowing me to return home.
