Story
The story
A devoted husband secretly undergoes a vasectomy after his son Leo turns five, choosing to spare his wife Chloe the burden of birth control. Six months later, Chloe tells him she is pregnant and blames him for refusing protection. But the pregnancy is impossible, and he realizes he has been betrayed.
Keeping his fury hidden, he pretends to accept her story and invents a work excuse to avoid accompanying her to the hospital. Instead, he borrows a car and follows her, watching her meet her best friend Harper outside the clinic. When a middle-aged man arrives and drapes his jacket over Chloe's shoulders, the husband recognizes him: Harrison, Chloe's boss and Harper's older brother.
The truth cuts deeper than the affair itself. Harrison is a man he has met, and Harper is a friend he has known for years. As he sits in his car, he must decide how to confront the people closest to him.
