Story

The story

On the day of his wedding, Ivan Sloane watches his bride, Lenora Bennet, abandon him at the altar after a call from his older brother, Gideon Sloane, who claims to be hospitalized. His mother, Gwen Goodwin, pleads with him to be understanding, while his older sister, Hillary Sloane, scolds him for being selfish. Gideon then sends Ivan cruel messages, boasting that their family will always choose him.

Ivan has endured this before. Since Gideon entered Sloane Manor, Ivan's parents have believed Gideon's lies over him, even dismissing the abusive messages Ivan showed them. Long ago, on a family trip, Ivan was lost and taken by a human trafficker while his family walked on, oblivious.

Returning to the empty marital home, Ivan confronts Lenora, who explains away her absence and promises another wedding. But the scent of Gideon's cologne clings to her, and Ivan has had enough. He asks her for a divorce.
