Story
The story
On her wedding day, Alice is abandoned at the altar when her groom, Jason Dudley, takes a call and leaves to be with Wendy Sullivan. The shock proves fatal for her father, Dylan, whose heart condition gives out; he collapses and is rushed to the emergency room. In his final moments he asks to see Jason, but every call goes unanswered, and Jason's only reply tells Alice to know her place.
After burying Dylan beside her mother, Alice ends the engagement and blocks Jason everywhere. At the cemetery she encounters Jason and Wendy, who is carrying an urn. Wendy admits she poured their cat's ashes into Dylan's urn so the pet would have company, and in the struggle that follows the urn is knocked over and Dylan's ashes scatter on the wind. Jason's bodyguards seize Alice and drag her before Wendy, demanding an apology, while he dismisses her father as a stranger he can simply pay for.
Bleeding from a fall against a tombstone, Alice refuses to yield, and Jason finally senses that something in her has changed.
