A Love on Paper

Willow Sweeney has loved Christopher Lausten for four years, and after he proposes, she believes her patience has finally paid off. They marry, but he buries himself in his company while she leaves for graduate school in Jaskleton, the two barely seeing each other.

When she returns at winter break, a woman opens his door: Roxanne Lind, the love he spent his youth longing for. Christopher introduces Willow only as a relative, and Roxanne claims him as her boyfriend. Willow asks for a divorce, but he refuses, insisting he will handle it, even as Roxanne moves through his house and kisses him.

A sparkler in Roxanne's hand singes Willow's ear, and Christopher accuses her of dirty tricks. Yet Professor Tate's messages about a rare project offer her another path, and Willow begins to wonder if this time she can finally leave him behind.
