Story

The story

At her daughter Emma's birthday party, Sophia Carter's husband Daniel arrives with his secretary, Chloe Miller, and criticizes Sophia's appearance. Days later, at Emma's award ceremony, the five-year-old dedicates a piano piece to her "aunt" Chloe—the same piece Daniel once played for Sophia while courting her. Sophia asks for a divorce, but Daniel dismisses her as making a scene, and Chloe and Emma's piano teacher, Mr. Robert Collins, side against her.

Emma declares she hates her mother and wants Chloe to be her new mommy, revealing that Chloe has been picking her up from kindergarten. Sophia learns her in-laws told Emma she prayed only for a son, not for Emma's recovery, and watches her daughter trample the cross necklace she had climbed a hill to obtain. Trapped at home while Daniel and Chloe share their careers, Sophia demands the divorce papers be signed today, refusing even custody.
