My Ex Let My Mom Die and Now He Wants Me Back?

For five years, Ava has kept her relationship with CEO Julian Sterling hidden, proving her devotion by collecting ten thousand messages of goodwill from strangers—his condition for marriage. Yet when his ex, Seraphina Hayes, asks him to marry her during a game of truth or dare, he broadcasts their engagement across the city's giant screens. Ava's mother, newly arrived to meet her future son-in-law, sees the announcement, suffers a heart attack, and collapses.

Begging Julian to return her savings for the medical bills, Ava is refused; he claims the money is his and spends it on a luxury car for Seraphina. Because the fees go unpaid, her mother misses her treatment window and dies. After arranging the burial, Ava accepts a job overseas and plans to leave, but Julian dismisses her resignation as a game, while HR stalls her paperwork and Seraphina mocks her ten thousand blessings, thrown into the trash.

As Ava prepares to board her flight, Julian finally sees her at the airport—and his eyes turn red.
