My Former Boss Called Me to Work Overtime After I'd Quit

After the New Year's holiday, Evan Young's former boss, Ms. Hayes, calls and demands he come in for a project handover, as if he had never quit. HR head Ryan Walker follows up, brushing aside his completed resignation and offering a seventy-five-a-month raise. Evan points out that his year-end bonus was only forty dollars, despite bringing in over fifteen million in business and working the hours of three people, while the Outstanding Employee award and its bonus went to Kevin Lewis, the subordinate he had trained.

Ryan blames Evan's low bonus on his supposed lack of teamwork and vague client complaints, and Kevin warns that Ms. Hayes will put out a statement about him if he refuses to return. Evan blocks them both. He has already started at Newfield Group, his former company's client on the $1.2 million project, where executive Marcus Cole has been waiting to discuss something with him.
