Story

The story

Five minutes before the ceremony, Asher calls off his wedding to Sandra Crowe. In his last life he went through with it, handing over the 300 thousand dollars his father had saved over two years for a kidney transplant when Sandra demanded it as a "marriage guarantee" at the altar. His father died; Sandra spent the money on a Chanel bag. Now, given a second chance, Asher tosses the ring in the trash and refuses.

Sandra's parents, Margaret and Logan Crowe, and her bridesmaids close in, insisting the wedding go on and demanding 500 thousand for ten wasted years. Then Caleb Bennett catches Sandra as she clutches her stomach and claims she is pregnant, and Logan threatens to report Asher for sexual assault. Asher has a report of his own in hand, and asks whose child it really is.

Five minutes before the ceremony, I called off the wedding.

In my last life, right in the middle of our vows, Sandra Crowe suddenly demanded another 300 thousand dollars as a "marriage guarantee."

She pulled out her phone in front of everyone, chin tipped up, a payment screen glowing.

"Three hundred thousand! Not a dollar less, or I'm not putting on that ring."
