Falling In Love with My Stepbrother

Vera is the legitimate daughter of the Holden family, and for years she has hidden her feelings for her stepbrother, Callum Smith, a general. When those feelings are exposed, she is branded shameless; her father scolds her for disgracing the family, and Callum, once kind, turns cold and hands her over to the army's deputy general for discipline.

Three years later, Callum sends for her to attend his mother's birthday banquet. Vera has spent those years as a washerwoman in the military camp, under the whip of the sergeant Henry Sanders, enduring frostbitten hands and the cruelty of soldiers who used her against her will. When Callum finally sees the scars and marks on her body, he understands what his soldiers did to her, and regret fills his eyes.

Returned to the Holden Mansion, Vera calls herself a servant and her stepbrother the general, while the maid Hazel Brown weeps for the daughter she once knew.
