After Six Years of Marriage, The Relationship was Broken

Amelia Allen, the former flame of John Moore, returns home in debt and takes work as a dancer in a bar. When John sees her on stage, he cannot look away, while his wife of six years sits forgotten beside him. Leon Cooper, John's business rival and heir to the Cooper Group, summons Amelia for drinks and mocks her fall.

John rises not to defend his wife but to lead Amelia away, draping his coat over her shoulders and telling his wife he cannot forget her. He brings Amelia into their home, where she wears his wife's pajamas and slippers. Even the news that his wife is one month pregnant changes nothing; he only offers her a driver.

After six years of standing by John through every hardship, his wife finally asks to be respected. She tells him she will see him at the courthouse, then leaves him and Amelia behind in the rain.
