Story

The story

Sarah is killed by her violent son Kevin, then wakes one year earlier, back in the home where her husband Mark and his parents have always indulged the boy. When Kevin demands a new PlayStation and hurls a vase that bloodies her forehead, she refuses him for the first time, and he lunges at her with murder in his eyes.

Kevin is the Jones family's golden boy, spoiled by his grandparents and defended by Mark, who expects Sarah to sacrifice herself as a stay-at-home mother. Her daughter Lily is ignored by everyone. After Kevin brawls in the park and Brenda undermines her, Sarah sees the boy is beyond saving and resolves not to let history repeat itself.

When Mark calls to rage about Kevin, Sarah tells him they will settle things between them once he is home.

Opening excerpt

Even as I lay dying, he was hitting me: "You old hag, who the hell do you think you are, trying to tell me what to do?"

My young daughter threw herself over me, but it didn’t stop his fists: "Get off, you useless brat! Move, or I'll beat you too!"

Then I opened my eyes. I was back, one year earlier.

I gently reminded my husband, "Remember to just give him whatever he wants, indulge his every whim. Otherwise, he might actually kill you, you know."
