Story

The story

Clara Hayes has spent eight years climbing to department manager, and when the company hands each team an $800 dinner budget, she means to enjoy the night. Stuck in traffic, she reaches the private dining room door late and overhears her new intern, Tyler Vance, mocking her as an old hag who wants to date him, then ordering a $15,000 feast while the room cheers him on.

Clara walks away, tells the group chat a family emergency has come up, sends the $800 budget, and leaves the chat. Tyler's furious messages and photos of lobster and three-thousand-dollar wine follow; Marcus, the deputy manager who has long wanted her job, calls to demand she cover the rest. At the office the next morning, Tyler accuses her of retaliation, and her coworkers blame her for the money they paid.

Clara refuses to be the human ATM they assumed she was, and with a $15,000 tab still unpaid, she intends to show them how the real world works.

"In a minute, I’m ordering ten portions of the most expensive items on the menu.
