The Stepsister's Downfall

After cutting ties with the Harrison family, Lily returns home a month later, worn down and defiant, clinging to Jake, the man she chose over her adoptive parents. Her brother Ethan and his new wife Olivia watch as Lily rejects every gesture of help, insisting she will not come back unless Jake is accepted.

Olivia, newly returned from abroad and matched with Ethan, has little patience for the pair. When Lily's name appears on the roster of a medical research project Olivia is funding, Olivia questions how someone with so little experience was selected, and interviews the candidates herself.

Lily refuses to see the assessment as routine, certain she is being singled out, while Olivia only wants her investment to be worthwhile. Between a family that will not bend and a woman who will not look back, Lily's choices are closing in around her.
