Story

The story

Anita Fox is the youngest team leader in the Marketing Department, and she keeps her two-year relationship with Arnold James a secret. When Stacy Pruitt arrives as the new receptionist, cooing in a baby voice and batting her doe eyes, the office men fall over themselves to indulge her. Anita refuses to join the theater, and the label of cold, jealous big sister sticks to her.

Then Stacy eats Anita's takeout, and Arnold rushes to shield the crying girl, scolding Anita for being petty. From there, Stacy's accidents multiply: wasabi in the coffee, a lost package, a photo posted to the group chat that turns Anita into the office rumor mill's favorite target. Arnold does not defend her. He questions her bags, her clothes, her trips to the executive floor.

What Arnold does not know is that Anita's father, the chairman of Fox Group, sent them both to a subsidiary as a test, and that his loyalty was the only thing being graded.

The new receptionist called herself a "silly baby" and greeted everyone with cutesy whines of "Daddy."

When I caught her stealing my takeout, she blinked those big eyes and pouted:

I'd been starving all day. My head was spinning, but I held my temper and told her to order me a replacement.
