Daddy Said He Didn’t Know I Was Allergic to Cherries

Kenny is a young boy who nearly died from a cherry allergy as a toddler. At Aunt Jenny’s party, he spits out a cherry hidden in his cake, but his father, Daddy, refuses to hear his explanation. Daddy forces him to stand outside in 104-degree heat as punishment, ignoring his knocking and coldly watching through the window.

By the time Mommy finds Kenny using his smartwatch GPS, he is sprawled on the floor, covered in red rashes. He dies, and his ghost watches Mommy break down, slap Daddy, and rush him to the hospital too late. Daddy never calls, and Mommy finally takes out the long-hidden divorce agreement.

Daddy comes home raging about Jenny and the divorce, refusing to believe Kenny was allergic to cherries. He grabs a box of cherries and heads to Kenny’s room, while Mommy sits wordlessly on the couch.
