Story

The story

A sandstorm has swallowed the world, and Sophia is trapped in an underground parking garage with her husband Luther and his mother, surviving on one meal a day while they torment her. When a supply run is forced on her, her mother-in-law swaps her dust mask and food for a bag of sand, and the storm buries her alive.

She wakes in the kitchen of the life before the end, hearing the same impatient voices demanding dinner. With days left until the apocalypse, Sophia stops playing the servant. She cancels the cards she gave her in-laws, moves her money, and turns a hidden villa into a fortress stocked for the coming storm, while Luther carries on with Hayley, the pregnant coworker his mother shelters.

This time, Sophia intends to let the sandstorm find the family that left her to suffocate, and to make sure they feel every breath of it.

My husband, his family, and I were holed up in an underground parking garage.

With food and water running low, I was down to one meal a day, all while enduring constant torment from my mother-in-law.

Unaware of the sabotage, I headed back to the surface and was buried alive by the storm.
