The AA System: Split to the Death

Zara never pays her share, mooching off her roommates and demanding they split bills to her advantage. Fed up, Jay proposes the state-promoted Absolute AA System, a subcutaneous chip that links to their IDs and bank accounts to settle every expense automatically. Zara eagerly agrees, believing it will finally give her the fairness she claims to deserve.

But the system does not lie. When Zara orders a table of expensive seafood and tries to pack the leftovers, the bill exposes her. Back at the dorm, she disputes the $18 charge for food Jay sold her, and her appeal is rejected. Her revenge is petty theft: fruit, shampoo, and Layla's face cream vanish, yet she denies everything for lack of evidence.

When Jay quietly orders a surveillance camera, the roommates prepare to catch a moocher who has finally met a system she cannot argue with.
