A Love Too Deep, A Fate Too Short

At his own engagement banquet, Daniel is mocked by his younger brother Eric, who drops the last rib into his fiancée Olivia White's bowl and reminds the table that Olivia was first introduced to him. The relatives laugh, calling Daniel shameless for stealing his brother's girlfriend — until Olivia overturns the table and declares she is standing up for the man she loves. Eric answers by splashing wine in her face and exposing the faded tattoo on her collarbone, insisting she is only with Daniel to spite him.

Ten years earlier, Olivia had loved Eric with a burning intensity, until she found him with another woman and he cast her aside. The Smiths sent Eric abroad and pushed Daniel forward in his place, tying him like a gift and delivering him to the Whites on his own birthday. Olivia hated him then, but after he pulled her from a burning car, she asked him to stay, and over ten years they built a company and a steady life together.

Now Eric's words have reopened an old wound, and Olivia's silence leaves Daniel wondering whether her love for him is real or only revenge.
