Story

The story

The son of the city's wealthiest man has let his housekeeper's son, Calvin James, spend weekends at his mansion out of respect for the housekeeper, Aileen Chavez, who served his family for twelve years. He even paid Calvin's college tuition. Then one day his keypad code stops working and a note on the door calls him a freeloading dog. Calvin, lounging inside, orders him to sleep on the street, and Aileen tells him to move to his country estate so her son can stay.

Standing outside his own home, he calls the police. Aileen begs him to drop the charges, invoking the years she cared for his late parents, and he relents. After that, Calvin stops coming, but household valuables keep vanishing and Aileen's excuses grow thinner.

On Memorial Day he drives out to his parents' beloved country estate and finds the gate wide open, music blaring, and the living room destroyed.
