He Sabotaged My Celebration for My Adopted Sister

For eight years, Vivian Gardner has lived away from the Gardner estate, kept there by a fortune-teller's claim that she is unlucky. Her brother, Andrew Gardner, finally promised her a formal family reunion banquet, a promise he made after she took a knife meant for him and nearly died. But three days before the banquet, Vivian learns he has changed the invitations into a birthday party for Emily, the adopted sister who wants to be his only sister.

Andrew believes Vivian is too sensible and strong to refuse him, and that Emily, pampered since childhood, could never endure losing his love. He orders a priceless crown for Emily while setting aside a cheap silver set for Vivian, certain his sister will obey as she always has. James Kent and others in Riverdale warn him that Vivian has waited eight years for this day, but Andrew waves them off.

Vivian says nothing and leaves quietly. When the banquet day comes and she does not appear, Andrew calls her frantically, only to hear that she is already home.
