Story

The story

Everyone at the Sterling estate believes Elara is secretly in love with Chase Sterling, the reckless heir whose stepfather took her in after her family went bankrupt. In truth, she stays for the salary he pays her as his personal assistant, enduring his pranks and his certainty that she adores him.

At a dinner after an inter-collegiate game, a game of Truth or Dare forces her to kiss Liam Thorne, the cold, brilliant captain from the rival university. Chase, who never imagined she would agree, watches his control slip as the countdown begins, and the silence on the drive home turns into an accusation of revenge.

What Chase does not know is that Elara has known Liam since the night she fished his ring from a storm drain, and that every game she attended was for him.

Opening excerpt

So when he lost a round of Truth or Dare, the crowd roared, pressuring me to kiss the star athlete from the rival university in his place.

My breath hitched in my throat.

"Come on, Elara. It's just a kiss, it won't kill you."

"Yeah, don't worry. Chase will understand."

Chase leaned back, looking at me with that signature lazy, arrogant smirk. "Yeah, Elara. Do me a solid, will you?"

He was betting on me refusing. He knew I was conservative, the quiet girl who never stepped out of line.
