When creating a community with automated signups you need to create a file called "instructions.html" for your newbie users to reference. I was thinking about putting a quick "How To" guide in this file with basic page editing / saving information.
Does this infomration already exist somewhere that we can use as a boilerplate for our help documents?
Below is one I created REALLY quick for a friend when I setup version 5 of editWrx. If this info already exists somewhere I'd love to be able to copy / past into my instructions.html file. If this info isn't available maybe as a community we can create something. If you have any suggestions, additions, etc. on the following please post them.
You can edit your pages from any computer in the world that has Internet Explorer installed. Here is what you need to do to edit these pages:
1) Go to the page you want to edit in Internet Explorer
2) Hit the Esc button 3 times in a row. NOTE: if you have a popup blocker installed you'll need to tell it that it is okay to allow popups on this site. Once you select "allow popups" you'll need to hit the Esc button 3 times again. A window will popup asking for your login information.
3) Login using your Username and Password.
4) Your browser will refresh and will have the same contents as before, but a new toolbar will be at the top of your screen and a "green bordered" area will appear in the middle of the screen. This is the editable area.
5) Play around! Type text, make it bold, insert a table, upload and insert an image, etc. etc. etc.
6) When you are finished, select the save icon (the icon of a single floppy disk at the top left of the screen).
7) Now exit by selecting the icon to the top right (the icon of a door with an arrow).
To upload and insert an image:
1) Upload the image using the "gray arrow icon" in the toolbar:
2) Select the picture icon: and then browse for the image you uploaded and select "insert".
Help: Once the toolbar has loaded, click the Help icon (book w/question mark), then click the tool you want Help for. That tool's Help instructions will display.
